The audiovisual installation, “Forgotten Dreams: Meditations on Narrative Space”, explores the creative connectivity between visual music and composition of space. Many audiovisual practices today address the possibility of interplay between visuals and music; however, they tend to stay in a confined screen space, rather than actively engage in the composition of various space factors such as light, depth, and 3-dimension space design. Audiovisual elements, in harmony with those spatial components, can not only enhance the auditory experience for the audience, but also bring a narrative to the space elucidating the relationship between music and image. Thus, “Forgotten Dreams: Meditations on Narrative Space” introduces a unique audiovisual screen composition to create an immersive musical space and, ultimately, invites the audience to pause and contemplate the visually expanded space. In this way, the audience can appreciate the dynamic qualities of music as well as the aesthetics of meditational space as they walk between the audiovisual screens.
