The purpose of this study is to examine concretely action state of Shin Jeong-En and consider the aspect and the historical meaning of ?Shin Jeong-En’s Famous Historical Storybook? that is first introduced in the academic world.
Shin Jeong-En was a historical storyteller from journalist in 1930s and contributed for popularization of historical romance. In 1938, he published 『Shin Jeong-En’s Famous Historical Storybook』 as an individual work. It showed historical form by arranging representative 11 works as a historical narrative. He collected data on his works from unofficial history, historical storybook, and The True Record of Joseon Dynasty of a previous generation. Through his works we can know his historical consideration.
『Shin Jeong-En’s Famous Historical Storybook『 had limits like absence of present realization in Japanese colonial era. But his works show distinctly his awareness of historical romance and chronological change of historical storybook.
