In this study, a custom-made geotextile tube made of polypropylene (PP) material was used during a large-scale experimental test. Dredged soil sediments (USCS Category: SM) collected from within the Saemanguem estuary were utilized as fill materials for the geotextile tube. Slurry was hydraulically pumped into the geotextile tube. A T-shaped slurry delivery system installed at the inlet of the geotextile tube is introduced in this paper. The tube was filled with dredged soil until its vertical height reaches up to 50% its theoretical diameter. The soil distribution inside the geotextile tube generated by the T-shaped inlet was improved. The quantity of the fine-grained particles passing #200 sieve increases as the sedimentation distance extends farther from the inlet location, that is, the amount of fine-grained soil passing #200 sieve at the ends of the geotextile tubes is higher than the amount of fine-grained soil passing #200 sieve around the inlet. Moreover, the properties of the soil in the uppermost deposition layer is identical to the physical properties of soil sediments in the bottom layer. However, the domestically produced geotextile material used in the experiment expelled a considerable amount of surplus silt outside the geotextile tube. The amount passing #200 sieve for the surplus soil is 43.3%. For the type of soil used in the experiment, it is recommended that a geotextile material with finer openings should be used.
