Recently, there have been many debates about the issue of community in Northeast Asia actively for a few years but the relationship among three countries(Korea, China, Japan) has yet to become intimate. Also, The trade and investment among Northeast Asian major cities have substantially increased since the 2000s, although there has not been any significant progress in terms of institutionalization of cross-border cooperation or regional economic cooperation. But, A Northeast Asian economic community has generally been regarded as the ultimate vision for Northeast Asian economic cooperation.
Under these circumstances, the meaning of ‘Busan-Fukuoka cross-border economic region’ is not only enhancing international competitiveness and regional revitalization through the strong cooperation, but also building the axis of new economic development in Northeast Asia. So, the purpose of this study was to analyze the success of international cooperation of Busan-Fukuoka cross-border economic region in Northeast Asia. The main result of this study was that the features of Busan-Fukuoka cross-border economic region provides useful directions for the international cooperation in Northeast Asia.
Under these circumstances, the meaning of ‘Busan-Fukuoka cross-border economic region’ is not only enhancing international competitiveness and regional revitalization through the strong cooperation, but also building the axis of new economic development in Northeast Asia.
