경추전방유합술 후 기도를 압박하여 호흡부전을 야기하는 혈종은 드물게 발생하지만 생명을 위협하는 치명적인 합병증으로 대부분 수술 후 혈종은 3일 이내 입원 기간 내 발생하여 적절한 치료가 이루어지나, 드물게 지연성 혈종으로 급성호흡부전이 퇴원 전, 후 발생하는 경우가 있어 치료에 어려움이 있다. 이에 경추전방유합술 후 5일, 퇴원 전날 급성호흡부전을 동반한 지연성 혈종 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하고자 한다.
