This article reviews the books and journal articles published on Chinese phonology and the related areas over the past decade to provide the current state of the art in Chinese phonology and phonetics in Korea. While the historical phonology and philology have been the most extensively researched areas, modern Chinese phonology and phonetics are growing rapidly, which can contribute to the methodological development and expansion of research horizons. The increase and diversification of research on both diachronic and synchronic aspects of Chinese can help to conduct the comparative research between Chinese and Korean and to advance our understanding of linguistic typology. It is hoped that this article helps to facilitate the scholarly interactions among Chinese linguists inside and outside Korea as well as between Chinese linguists and linguists specialized in other languages.
