Asia, the largest continent in earth, is divided by 5 different regions which are the East Asia, the West Asia, the South Asia, the South East Asia, and Central Asia, and the land area is 3,189 million hectares, 23.4% of the earth. Around 60% of world population, 4,080 million people live in 48 different Asian countries. Among these, there are only 6 different countries in the East Asia, which are China, Japan, Mongolia, Taiwan, North Korea, and South Korea; however, those countries have been important in the world not only because of politically but also because of economically. In the East Asia, cultivated land area for agricultural purpose is estimated at 1,180 million hectares in 2009, including 960 millions of China, 37 millions of Japan, 10 millions of South Korea. The pesticide market size in Asia share with 26.5% of the worldwide total in 2009. Three countries in the East Asia, China, Japan, and South Korea have been a key role in the pesticide industry, resulting in that each country ranks the 5th, the 3rd, and the 7th, respectively, in conventional agrochemical market. In 2009, the herbicide market value was estimated at $3,892 million in 48 Asian countries, including that $2,313 million was covered by China of $765 million, Japan $1,180 million, and Korea of $377 million. Rice is a major crop cultivated in all of the East Asian countries and has been cultivated more than 50% of the total cropping area in each country except China. In the pesticide market, Nufarm showed highest annual growth rate of 11.2% resulting in the valued at $1,798 million for 2009 which increased by 150% compared to 2005. In herbicide sector, FMC have remarkably extended its business and recorded $473 million in 2009 increasing by 260% compared to 2005 with the annual growth rate of 27.1% during the period of 2005 and 2009. In this paper, the market and a couple of aspects are discussed for prospecting herbicide industry in the East Asia, mainly 3 countries, China, Japan, and South Korea.
