Hanyu proposed a thinking framework of moving forward with New Confucianism through affirmative action of ‘Yuan’s writing style and the Style of Notes.
This way of writing made a certain contribution to systemization of New Confucianism in the Song Dynasty. Although Hanyu’s attempt to enlighten the Confucian ideology by this style of writing has been criticized, Yuandao has attracted philosophic thinkers’ attentions since ancient times due to discovery of the Style of Notes’s new mode.
The Style of Notes is a significantly effective method of description to convince philosophers of Neo-Confucianism, because they had been accustomed to the notes of the Han·Tang Dynasties. Hanyu took actions newly to characterize and categorize the primary concept of ‘Renyidaode’ in Confucianism competitive with Buddhism·Taoism by employing the Style of Notes and also provided the explanation for matters of daily lifes. For this reason, the thinking framework of Neo-Confucianism was established.
Furthermore, Yuandao did also a certain assistance to the birth of Baguwen’s writing in the Ming·Qing Dynasties. The well organized writing with antithesis in the Style of Notes is subtantialy similar to that of Baguwen.
Baguwen is fundamentally a descriptive writing addressing major contexts of ChengZhu Neo and therefore, being approximate to the funtion of the style of notes. This enabled Maokun of the Ming Dynasty to contemplate Yuandao associated with Baguwen.
