The sustainable rural development is needed not only for nature or heritage conservation, but also broader strategies for environmental, social and economic sustainability. An eco-museum is a museum focused on the identity of a place, largely based on local participation and aiming to enhance the welfare and development of local communities. The eco-museum is closely related to sustainability concept that provides the basis for the community. This article deals with the potential evaluation of eco-museum in terms of resources and practical methods. The factors for the potential evaluation of resources include environmental, anthropogenic, economic, aesthetic, architectural and tourism factors. The Jungpyong village is a famous old classical scholar village that has a high potential of eco-museum: clean and safe environment, indigenous life style and landscape. The Jungpyong community wants to do both village business and tourism business for making a sustainable rural village. The Jungpyong community is judged to get a good practical method in terms of future oriented development, responsible tourism and economic benefits.
