The 21st century is the era of the city rather than the country to determine the competitiveness of the country. Now, there are eight Free Economic Zones in South Korea.
The purpose of free economic zones is to improve the management environment of foreign enterprises, such as finance and commerce. The free economic zone also pursues improving the residential environment of foreigners including housing, education and etc. In short, foreign investment promotion is considered as the core value. The purpose of this study is to explore ways to more successful operations through the analysis of the problems appeared in the Incheon Free Economic Zone(IFEZ). The IFEZ completed the phase one project is designated as the Korea"s first free economic zone. Recently, attracting foreign investments in IFEZ has noe been active due to excessive regulation, insufficient administrative and financial support.
Therefore, in order to foster Incheon Free Economic Zone as Northeast Asia"s leading business cities, active institutional improvements, and administrative and financial support measures are needed.
An investment strategy that focuses on improving incentives to attract global companies with large economic effects at home and abroad is required.
