This study aims to recognize the necessity of the interior coordination which is valued as the way to represent the resident’s characteristics, and to form the analytical framework by understanding the fundamental notion, the definition and the components of interior coordination. The study was performed by content analysis method, analysing previous studies with key words such as interior coordination, interior decoration, interior ambience and interior display. The content of this study includes determining the research trends in interior coordination by analyzing previous studies, analyzing the definition of interior coordination and defining the range of components. The interior coordination is creating various indoor atmospheres that fit functional and aesthetic purposes by arranging components and making pleasant residential environment. And the components include not only the simple decoration but also the architectural factor, interior composition, visual and decorative composition. Nowadays, role of interior coordination is increasing, and to systematize and specialize it, studies on various types of interior coordination and the way of expressing individuality of residents should be performed continuously.
