This study has the purpose to establish basic design elements in designing neo-classical interior space. In this study, the concept of neo-classical space design was established and the foundation for designers to judge design elements necessity was prepared through analysis of the design elements of neo-classicalism artists by eras from early days of neoclassicism to industrial society. To that end, fixed elements and mobile elements of neo-classical interior design were classified and lines were extracted and analyzed. As a result, the following conclusions were reached: First off, in the analysis of fixed elements, in the 1700s exaggerated sophistications of Baroque and Rococo were found along with intentional moderations of decorations, and in the 1800s, lines extracted in indoor space were simpler and clearer than in the 1700s, which were interpreted as efforts to seek for order of design. In the 1900s, the design of space became more modern through simplification. Second, as a result of mobile elements analysis, the lines decreased in decoration through the eras 1700s, 1800s and 1900s, and those of the 1900s seemed sophisticated at first but were extremely minimized in decorations, which indicates the trend of the era with both fixed elements and mobile elements seeking for humanism represented by ergonomic design. The results of the analysis of interior space design elements are anticipated to serve as basic instructions for the prediction and establishment of practical design as neo-classical space performance.
