In this paper I first established the concept of confused words and made a classification of them. Then I analyzed the information of confused words in learner’s dictionaries of Korean and proposed an improving method. As the confusions are usually due to the similarities between words, I first divided them into within-language confused words and between-languages confused words according to the nature of the similarities. These two were then divided into phonologically confused words, morphologically confused words and semantically confused words. Present learner’s dictionaries of Korean only included confused words within Korean with a focus on semantically confused words. But actually Chinese learners make many errors also in Sino-Korean words, loanwords and onomatopoeias when they learn Korean. So this paper argued that we should give full consideration about the learner’s mother tongue interference when selecting and analyzing the confused words. In Chinese learner’s dictionaries of Korean it is important to include some comparison between Chinese and Sino-Korean words, such as homographs and morphologically related synonyms.
