This Study deals with the movement of Dohobu(都護府) on the changing of Donggye(東界) territory. We can check about the changing of Donggye territory during the Goryeo Dynasty. Also we can check about the movement of Dohobu, too. I think that these are direct correlation between the changing of Donggye territory and the movement of Dohobu.
Donggye territory has been expanded with the local government system in 14th year of King Sungjong(成宗)"s reign and 9th year of King Heonjong(顯宗)"s reign. Also Donggye territory has been reduced owing to Yu?an. Because the Yu?an set up their office (Sangsungchongguanbu/雙城摠管府) in upper half of Donggye territory. But Donggye territory has been expanded in 5th year of King Gongmin (恭愍王)"s reign again. In short, Donggye territory was changed for four-steps. The Donggye"s Dohobu moved along time with this four-steps, the moving path is Whaju(和州) →Dengju(登州) →Myungju(溟州) →Myungju+Jungju(定州).
Each of Dohobu mean: Whaju means strategic point with military purpose, Dengju means an effective operation of expanded Donggye territory, Myungju means the best way for narrow Donggye territory, Myungju+Jungju means separated operation for Gangneungdo(江陵道) and sakbangdo(朔方道).
The result implies that the Donggye was operated around Dohobu. The geographical features of Donggye is a range of territory running north and south, the feature is difficult to operate. So the Goryeo Dynasty tried to operation through the movement of Dohobu. As a result, this methods of operation offered a reasonable solution.
