People are growing more and more interested in Modernization of Hon-ok these days, but Han-ok hasn’t broadly used as contemporary house yet, it is because of economics issue and lack of spaces. Patterns are influenced by a space and it is very important aspect in spacial design. For this reason, this study may give an efficiency to find and gain an identity of Han style by applying traditional window frame patterns into modern style Han-ok.. ‘Traditional house in late Chosun dynasty’ was analyzed and assessed the process to define modern style window patterns. The traditional window frame patterns have been used as a semantic and symbolic approach depending on the spatial characteristics. Base on the theory above, reinterpreted window frame patterns are drawn, and recreated to apply into Modern style Han-ok. Patterns occupies a great part in designing a space and therefore constant research are necessary in order to apply widely into modern Han-ok.
