The cultural identity of each country is very critical in globalized world. Especially, Korea has become a world"s attention as popularity of k-pop is rising. According to this phenomenon, attention to Hanok which is the Korean unique house form is also rising. Following study is focused on lattice-pattern which included in Korean residential culture since lattice is one of important elements in Korea residential life.
This study refers theses of lattice patterns and references about windows. First, in the aspect of theoretical consideration, the similarities and differences between Korean and Chinese residence are analyzed. Second, How to classify the Korean and Chinese lattice pattern was decided by preceding examples and studies. And diagram was made based on its form and symbolic meaning of lattice pattern. Improving the efficiency, this study compares lattice-patterns of shape and has a meaning between Korea and China.
Korea lattice patterns are simple. Whereas China lattice patterns are very decorative because of Sinocentrism. Hopefully, this study leads a way to forming cultural identity of Korea and to motivate for developing Korea residential life.
