Recently, we are faced with the reality where the space for public places has been decreasing due to emphasis on privacy and the expansion of private paces. However, with the topic about "Public Design," the change from the public possession to public value has been promoted, which means that the design to emphasize publicity of public value rather than private design has been received more attention.
Departed from the rapid economical change focusing on quantitative rather than qualitative growth in the past, now qualitative growth with the change of values has been stressed, and along with this, the significance of urbanization, urban design, design of public space and publicity has been granted.
Therefore, this study aims to shed new light on the recognition of public design and its change through "Bicycle Rack" design which is the element of public design, according to urbanization and publicity, the stream of the age. The modern society pursues complexation and diversification from unification. Public design also requires diversified forms and designs. Therefore, this design was designed with basic needs for a bench and bicycle rack adding design elements to accord with diversification and multi-purpose. It is used as a bench or bicycle rack depending on personal needs. Likewise, I designed the part of public design for complex use. Therefore, if we use the elements of multipurpose, diversification, complexation properly, it will be remembered as a better street and public design.
