This paper is a trial which is going to investigate cultural interested the aspect and grade which modern Japanese got to colony Korea in relation to this with the East Asian popular music in the first half of the 20th century, especially the formation of popular music in Korea and Japan. It is focusing on ‘enka’ of Japan and ‘trot’ of Korea. These two can be called popular musical genre of East Asia established with the media revolution of a record and radio in Japan and Korea early in the end of the 1920th, and the 30th through the Western music acceptance process from the end of the 19th century. These may conclude that it points to the same genre, when seeing in the viewpoint of East Asia. Therefore, the phenomenon in which ‘enka’ of Japan obtains sympathy in Korea, and a Korean singer acquires popularity in Japan is possible enough. That is because the traditional music base common to East Asia and the “emotional community” are formed. Good response was obtained to many people in Japan of the 1930s through the public performance meeting of the form which Korean popular music actually constructed with “the Korean comfort theatrical company”(朝鮮?劇?, cho-seon-ak-keuk-dan). This was because the Korean artist"s efforts and skills also acted exceeding the dimension of simple exoticism and the affective base of Korea-Japan both countries is similar above all.
