This study intended to investigate the influence of the descriptive menu labels on students’ intents to take school meals so as to draw qualitative improvements of school meals. For this, 341 students from 6 elementary/middle schools in Daegu area were surveyed and the results were as follows. The difference of intent to take school meals according to the display level of menu labels was found to be significant(p<0.001) for all menu labels within the same food category. In menu label display, the intent was found to be the highest in the order of nutrition and health-related menu label, sensuous menu label, menu label displaying superior food material, eneral menu label. In conclusion, utilization of menu post such as descriptive menu labels could improve the attitude of the students towards school meals. Utilizing such menu display and considering such in nutrition education, the objective of school foodservice can be achieved more effectively.
