In this study, we investigated the effect of polycarbonate material by ultraviolet light irradiation to improve its adhesion strength. Surface treatment was carried out at UV light (wavelength of 365 ㎚ and 254 ㎚). Adhesion test was done by single lap shear test. Characterization using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis and water contact angle measurements were performed to analyze the surface characteristics of the polycarbonate. The results showed increased ahdesion strength of UV light treated polycarbonate samples compared to non-treated samples. The enhancement in adhesion was attributed to the increased C=O bond density and decreased C-C/C-H bond density at the polycarbonate surface.
