The aim of this study was that effect of one night"s sleep deprivation and oral creatine supplementation on anaerobic power output and blood lactate concentration. Twenty subjects(age 16.2+0.12 years, Height 172.3±2.34 cm, Weight 68.5±1.88 kg, body fat 11.2±2.54 %, V0<SUB>2</SUB>max 58.9±4.99 ml/kg/min) were divided by two groups(Group1 : placebo supplementation with one night"s sleep deprivation, Group2 : creatine supplementation with one night"s sleep deprivation). All subjects performed single 30 seconds all-out sprint Wingate test before and after two different kinds of interventions. Peak power, mean power, lower power, velocity, and percentage of power drop were measured for anaerobic exercise performance and blood lactate concentration was assayed for evaluating the fatigue.
There were significant differences in the peak power and velocity between groups Mowing the 30 seconds anaerobic cycling exercise performance test(p<.05). However, there were no significant differences in the % power drop, mean and lower power between groups following the 30 seconds anaerobic cycling exercise performance test(p>.05). Also, there was significant differences in the blood lactate concentration level between groups at the end of 30 seconds anaerobic cycling exercise performance test(p<.05).
In conclusion, one night"s sleep deprivation did not affect the short-term high intensity exercise performance in this present study. Also, oral creatine supplementation play very good role in increasing the peak power output in the short-term high intensity exercise. It might be dear that further investigations of circadian rhythms, physical fitness level of individual, diurnal patterns of physical performance, training type and volume of sleep deprivation must control for time of day.
