Traditional costumes are indexes to know the culture of the country. When Culture Korea use traditional clothing to promote Korean traditional culture, like helding a welcoming ceremony for a national guests, it becomes important. Because of this reason, traditional costume designs used by the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense Traditional Band and Honor Guards need some improvements.
First, make use of existing costume design. Second, study relics and related data. Third, try to improve costume designs with applying various Korean clothing, also consider general unity of designs.
Reinterpreting traditional costume in modern way while maintaining its own tradition will be progressed with prudence. Keeping this point in mind, this study constructs and proposes some manuals that Korean traditional clothing ensure own identity and make a strong resolution. Improvement of clothing is considered in four courses, color, material, structure and wearing method.
