Steering wheel grip feeling means the feeling of a grip on a steering wheel. There are three major factors for grip feeling regulation; Rim configuration, Spoke configuration and the quality of materia. In this study, four individual but parallel connected experiments have been conducted with 36 steering wheel grip feeling experts. In the first experiment, significant grip feeling factors have been found by the automobile evaluation. In the second experiment, A degree inward slanting atypical oval rim cross-sectional configuration has been found from the investigation of the distribution of the surface pressure of the hand on wheel grip position. The proper height, width and circumference of the rim and width-height ratio of the rim have also been found. In the third experiment, the optimal spoke configuration has been suggested by making 8 types of steering wheel mock-ups. In the last experiment, a comparison of the 42 types of other companies’ steering wheel has been conducted by making steering wheel mock-up reflecting grip feeling elements previously obtained from this study. Through the experiments, several optimum conditions for improving steering wheel grip feeling have been found; Value of steering wheel gradient decreasing from *3? to *5?, Value of thumb touch point gradient of *5~*0mm (when cross section was transformed from a standard oval shape into an atypical shape), and range of spoke width of *5~*0mm
