This paper is the study on the performance analysis of DSM(Driver Status Monitoring) system based on the light environment in the vehicle. DSM system is detected driver’s face direction and eye blinks using image processing. DSM system warns to driver when driver"s face direction and eye blinks get over the limited time. This system using faceimage which is shot with a infrared camera(IR camera) for image processing that calculates driver"s face direction and eye blinks.
The light environment is the main factor affecting performance on the video processing system. Videos of driver"s face were collected for the performance analysis of DSM system based on light environments in the vehicle. The videos evaluate using DSM Performance Evaluation Device. Understand the relationship between the status of light and performance of DSM system using the performance evaluation results.
This performance analysis of DSM system has shown the driver"s glasses are more important factor than light environment in performance of DSM system. Also, We found out that glasses reflection and error caused by fame of glasses in the image are main cause of performance degradation.
