For the purpose of solving various issues in the Taekwondo circle and achieving qualitative growth, the role of newspapers that are exclusively on Taekwondo is a must through which Taekwondo information can be shared and that can provide expert comment and criticism on events. However, the studies on Taekwondo news papers are lacking, and it is unknown if Taekwondo newspapers can contribute to the harmony and advancement of the Taekwondo circle by carrying out their correct role. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to analyze the article contents of Taekwondo newspapers in order to examine the report status of Taekwondo newspapers as well as examine their role. The content analysis method was used, accordingly, to analyze the Internet articles of three newspapers, ‘TKDNEWS’, ‘MOOKAS’ and ‘TKDCNN’, that were reported in 2010 and the following conclusion was made.
Results of the study are as follows.
First, there were differences in the amount of report among the Taekwondo newspapers.
Second, the percentage was high for the articles with more than one image attachments and the content of the article was being communicated through the image attachment. However, they showed significant gender differences in the images, which showed the difference in the key position between male and female in the Taekwondo circle and implied the continuing significant gap in the gender ratio.
Third, the subject matters related to the operation or administration of organization formed the majority in the type of subject matter of the Taekwondo newspapers. It was followed by the subject matter on the competition result.
Fourth, it was found that the Taekwondo newspaper staff reports mostly wrote their major articles.
Fiveth, there were in part differences in the Taekwondo News values.
