Increasing a cost of oil and natural gas, technology of energy production using coal, including SNG and IGCC, receives attention as a prospective technology due to relatively low cost of coal. On an early stage in project, developer or project owner has many options in gasifier selection. Especially, on a feasibility stage, gasifier would be a key facility of economic evaluation. This study compares technical aspects of the gasifier for the real synthetic natural gas production project on an early stage. Fixed-bed slagging gasifier, wet type entrained gasifier and dry type entrained gasifier which have own typical advantages are able to apply for synthetic natural gas production project. Base on a comparison of process descriptions and performances for each gasifier, this study shows selection guideline of gasifier for synthetic natural gas production project as project developer and EPC contractor.
