The purpose of the study was to understand the meaning of tourism and social phenomenon through the origin of tourism and consideration in the complicated and diversified society. Besides, this study was to present the academic preliminary data for the concept of tourism. The primary implications should be accurate and clearly defined concept of tourism as follows; (i) research objectives, (ii) statistical purposes, (iii) legislative and administrative purposes and (ⅳ) industrial purposes. In order to achieve these goals, it needs to conduct a systematic review of tourism phenomenon and to decide the range of tourism. Furthermore, the some instructions in the construction of the tourism concept are as follows. First, it should be general expression as possible. Second, it can be identify the definitions established by the eminent scholars of all ages and countries. Lastly, the defined concepts are easy to utilize academically.
