The purpose of this study is to explore issues relating to the survival and sustainability of social enterprise in Gyeongnam province, given the structural changes currently taking place in production circumstances. In particular, the focus is on the characteristics and problems of operation and ecosystem of social enterprise.
Research results are presented as follows: ①Operation results show that worse operations accounted for most social enterprises and these enterprises accounted for approximately 53.1% of the total respondents. Most social enterprises considered weaknesses of marketing/sales and low price levels of products/service as bottleneck factors in the way of the management. ②BSC performance results show that multi-income and learning performances were highly assessed, whereas vision and execution performances were lowly assessed. ③Ecosystem results show that the public sector was the highest with 49.4% in three joint fields, sponsoring market was the highest with 63.3% in three joint types, and self-governing city or district was the highest with 75.7% in three joint counterparts.
The following issues are considered: ①building and supporting social economies, ②finding and training social enterprisers and formation of civil sector, ③ development of market-public-civil collaborative model, ④strengthening the role of intermediate support organizations
