EV/HEV has the different mechanism with the internal combustion engine. Thus, the components are different, too. One of the components is the electric compressor. The internal combustion engine vehicle adopted the compressor using the engine driving force and EV/HEV adopted the compressor which compresses the refrigerant by using the motor.
In the electric compressor, the interior permanent magnet (IPM) is used in the electric compressor because of demanding the motor both of the high efficiency and power. When the motor rotate at high speed, IPM type has the structural advantage preventing the secession of the permanent magnet. And the IPM type motor can use the reluctance torque and make the high generating power.
Theoretically, the BLDC motor has the fixed torque without the torque ripple in case of that the phase current is passed sequentially. Because the BLDC motor has the back electromotive force (BEMF) that is the trapezoid. However, in the motor, the ideal square wave current cannot be made the inductance component of the stator winding. Therefore, there is the ripple of the phase current in the parts that the phase currents commutate. This makes the torque ripple. The torque ripple causes the noise, the vibration and the decrease of motor performance. Therefore, the supplementary design is essential for improving the motor characteristic.
In this paper, the lead angle control was proposed for improving the characteristic degradation that is generated due to the current ripple. The lead angle control is the method that supplements the current delay through the lead angle. And the lead angle control improves the characteristic of the motor. The error due to the delay of the current is anticipated through the analysis of inductance and calculation. The setting of the lead angle is important because it occurs to the deterioration of the motor characteristics if the lead angle is too large.
