The purpose of this study is to review the current state of middle school students" awareness and attitude on rainwater in Korea. For this purpose, this study carried out two questionnaires targeting four classes(two classes for the questionnaire included awareness and two classes for the questionnaire included attitude) with a total of middle school 145 students. The first questionnaire was included awareness on rainwater the reason, and the sources. In the second questionnaire, students were shown a picture of wasted water. One class were told that the water in the picture was tap water; whereas, the other class was told that it was rainwater. The results of this research were as follows. First, the most of students showed awareness on rainwater as dirty. Second, the most of students pointed out the main reason as ‘contaminant’and ‘acid rain’. Third, the sources of perceiving rainwater as dirty were through mass media, textbooks and teachers related schooling. Fourth, after presenting the picture of wasted water, the rainwater group tended to waste more compared to the tap water group. This study could suggest ideas on rainwater education in classroom and on contents organization on rainwater in textbook for middle school students.
