This study investigated the effect of floor surface temperature on occupant’s relaxation by measuring the electroencephalogram(EEG). Participants were 32 healthy male volunteers. The experimental chamber was controlled with “slightly cool” environment. The air temperature was set to 22 and the relative humidity was 50%. The floor surface temperature of pre-condition was 22 and that of post-condition was controlled to 30. Participants were exposed to each condition for 20 minutes. The relative power of EEG was significantly different between pre-condition(T Floor = 22) and post-condition(T Floor = 30). Comparing within two conditions, there were two noticeable changes; increase of wave and decrease of ß wave. Those changes mean the participants get into stage of emotional stability, even feel sleepiness. Additionally, comparing relative superiority between a wave and ß wave, power of relative a wave increased in post-condition. This also indicates participants feel more comfort. In conclusion, the only high temperature of floor surface can make positive effect ono ccupant"s relaxation.
