There are many modern historical remains at open port cities in East Asia until nowadays, which had been constructed by western and Japanese empires in modern times.
The purpose of this study id investigate and to re-evaluate the modern historical remains in Korean and Japanese open cities, especially at Busan and Nagasaki, Firstly, this research analyses the present situation of them in both countries. Secondly, this research develops the ways to redefine the remains for tourism and historical education.
To research about the remains, it is necessary to lay stress on the accepters’ viewpoints than offerer’s. The reason in that the preservation and use on present time is decided by their thoughts about the remains. And the remains can be developed and used an cultural properties and useful commodities of cultural industries. Therefore, it is necessary to regard the historical remains of Busan and Naggasaki as the people’s source of identity and cultures residing at the cities.
