The purpose of this study was to analyze if there were any differences between sport commitment and achievement goal orientation according to the anticipated target results among KLPGA players. One hundred two women golfers participated in KLPGA seminar in 2012 were surveyed and assigned either a high or a low group. Sport commitment consisting two sub-scale based on ESCM(Expansion of Sport Commitment Model)scale and achievement goal orientation with four sub-scale based on Elliot and McGregor(2001)’s scale were used. Cronbach’s α coefficient was calculated for measuring internal consistency reliability. Independent t-test was conducted to examine the difference of two groups and multiple regression analysis was also conducted to analyze the effects of achievement goal orientation on sport commitment. The results showed that mastery approach and avoidance of achievement goal orientation and cognitive and behavioral commitment of sport commitment between two groups were significantly different. The high group had higher scores on mastery approach factor while the low group had higher scores on mastery avoidance. The high group also showed higher scores on cognitive and behavioral commitment. The effects of achievement goal orientation on sport commitment revealed that mastery approach and avoidance influenced cognitive commitment on the high group and only mastery approach influenced on the low group. Mastery approach and performance approach also influenced behavioral commitment on the low group. Mastery approach was positively correlated with sport commitment while mastery avoidance was negatively correlated with cognitive and behavioral commitment.
