The purpose of this research was to examine the structural relationship among athletes’ retirement expectation, psychological sense of crisis, level of retirement preparation and re-socialization, and to provide them with a practical method for their organized preparation for retirement and the efficient adaptation of themselves to a new environment after retirement. For the research, the survey targeted the elite athletes in the Chonbuk province. For the account of research target’s characteristics and questionnaires, frequency analysis, reliability analysis and correlation analysis were used with SPSS WIN 18.0. In order to verify the structural relationship of the study modeling, confirmative factor analysis and structural equation modeling were operated with LISREL 8.80. The result of this study was as follows:
First, athlete’s retirement expectation was statistically significant to a psychological sense of crisis. Second, the retirement expectation made a statistically meaningful influence on the level of retirement preparation. Third, the retirement expectation was influential to re-socialization with statistical significance. Fourth, his/her psychological sense of crisis was not statistically meaningful to re-socialization. Last, his/her level of retirement preparation statistically had a substantial impact on re-socialization.
