This paper studies the problem of finding a minimum cost routing of multiple military cargo-planes that accommodates a given set of pickup and delivery demands between origin and destination pairs. To enhance the efficiency of routing, both demand splits and node revisits are allowed and hence the problem can be modeled by PDPSL(pickup and delivery problem with split loads) recently proposed by Nowak et al. However, instead of a tabu search heuristic of Nowak et al, our solution method is a branch-and-price type algorithm based on an exact mixed integer formulation by using node replications that enable modeling the closed walks from node revisits as the conventional tours. Such formulation seems particularly useful when the path-length constraint of a single vehicle restricts the number of revisits to a node to a small constant as in our case. We also report the computational results of the algorithm applied to the cargo-plane routing problem.
