Wire harnesses are a set of electric cables and wires routed and bundled together to transmit current or signals from one element to another in electro-mechanical or electronic systems. Such wire harnesses are essential parts in many electronic appliances including those installed in automobiles and airplanes. This paper surveys applications of industrial engineering to wire harness industries. For each application area, research issues are presented.
