Most versions of Chunhyang Jeon includes the scene of Governor Byun"s ceremonial march as a Namwonbusa. However, even the researchers have not been able to understand the exact meaning of this scene where the flags and musical instruments are enumerated.
Recently, in "A Study on Pansori Cheongdogi Episode", Bae Yeonhyung has pointed out that this scene is related to Daejangcheongdodo(大將淸道圖) of Byeonghakjinam(兵學指南). In this paper, I examined the respective Daejangcheongdodos on Byeonghakjinam(兵學指南) and Jixiao-xinshu(紀效新書), since Byeonghakjinam is an abridged edition of Jixiao-xinshu written by Chinese general Qi ji-guang(戚繼光).
Also, as a result of examining the contents of Daejangcheongdodo among various versions of Chunhayng Jeon, it was made clear that in the variant of the rental book version those contents were reflected exactly the same way. But the other versions had more of abridgement and modification. Examining the Daejangcheongdodo would mean a significant contribution to the formation process of Chunhyang Jeon.
