This paper attempts to construct a theory of translation and to develop a translation model through investigating the Chinese-to-Korean translation process based on text linguistics theory. To arrive at a method of text translation, I derive synthetic, systematic, and scientific translation theory by expanding the standard framework, which narrowly focuses on grammar and semantic, into pragmatic dimensions. I discuss the problem of understanding the pragmatics coherence of a text by applying text pragmatics. I explore a way of understanding the meaning of pragmatics coherence, namely implicature, which is related to understanding pragmatic inference from Grice’s theory.
