This paper attempts to investigate how voice contrast of English is adapted in Korean loanwords. The study examines acoustic cues related with laryngeal contrasts in English and Korean consonants and then presents an analysis of the adaptation process as the phonemic mapping of acoustic similarities by means of cue constraints which connect auditory forms of English to phonological surface forms of Korean.
