Report Errors
Augustine is a great Western theologian both for Roman Catholics and Protestants. Especially his theology of grace has made an enormous influence on the Reformers such as Luther and Calvin. Alongside his good ongoing impact on church history, however, there are some bad factors in his theology. Due to his lapse into Manichaeism during his young career, Augustine cannot but escape from the dualism between body and soul. Even though he overcomes the Hellenistic dualism with the help of Neo-platonism, Augustine does not count the value of material world properly. He mainly interprets the first chapters of Genesis literally. But at some points he adopts spiritual interpretations. Augustine is not in good company with creationism which holds the young universe view. Unlike him, it strongly sticks to 24 hours view for the "day"s of Genesis 1.
