Mainly to analyse the biomechanical variables for the successful attack factors in Kumdo bouts. In this context, 34 games with 36 players, that were filmed by S-VHS video camera. The bouts included 34 games of 27 preliminary matches for National Kumdo Championship Tournament of President Cup held in November 2009 and final 7 games of the round of 8 groups. For game content analysis, attack frequency, success rate, failure rate, gain, and gain time by section were considered. Based on this condition, I analyzed the pace, speed, angle between bamboo sword and ground, angle speed of bamboo sword"s first part, and its movement, attack distance and stroke time that give impact on the outcome of the match when attacking head and wrist were analyzed. And for the evaluation of related factors in attacking movement, the regression analysis of logistics about the biomechanical variables were employed. Through this analysis of biomechanical variables and game contents, the following outcomes were drawn. Among the biomechanical variables that showed the significance in statistics were the pace, angle speed of bamboo sword, and the attack range. The pace for correct posture and movement was 48.7±25.6cm in successful attack of head and 65.2±23.3cm in failure. Among the biomechanical variables that had an effect on attacking movement, the pace and attacking distance were related in attacking head. The ratio of the pace compared to the height was 26.4±14.1% in that of wrist.
In aspects of biomechanical factors, pace and attack distance showed the relations with the outcome of performances in attacking head. For effective strikes in biomechanic process, even no significant variables in statistics are to be considered for efficient technique combined with physical and co-responsiveness. Therefore it is recommended that strikes, maintaining the spiritual and physical drive in successful performances will be integrated ineffective drills.
