This paper aims to derive research agenda with analysing research trend of the articles relating to international commerce published in several domestic and foreign academic journals for the last decade. In general, the research on the international commercial transactions can be divided into five main research fields-contract for the international sale of goods, international payment, international transportation, marine cargo insurance, and alternative dispute settlement. There have numerous articles in those research areas. As a result of review of the literature relating to the five research fields respectively, it can be found out that the greatest number of papers studies on the trade usages, customs, and rules relating to the international commercial transactions applied to practical and legal approaches in any fields of the above.
In order to advance the research on the international commercial transactions, there may be three prerequisites. First, the department of international commerce in universities must rebuild up a proper curriculum to study five above subjects. Second, the research realm should be well-established and a new research methodology shoud be introduced and developed. Third, understanding local language and culture is a crucial factor. In particular, the research on the international commercial transactions must be conducted practical, customary, and legal approaches with a quantitative, qualitative, or historical viewpoint to root up the origin of international commerce as an independent academic area.
