Twenty ARS Russian honey bee (Apis mellifera) and 20 Thai domestic colonies, Italian honey bee hybrids, were used to compare for grooming behavior against Tropilaelaps clareae and its sex ratios. The experiment was conducted at an apiary in Chiang Mai, Thailand, during October 2010~September 2011. Grooming behavior of the Russian and domestic bees to T. clareae was evaluated on percentages of injured mites in hive debris. Injured types to the mites were classified as injured legs or injured legs+body and also classified by sex to estimate sex ratios. The result showed that the Russian bee has efficient grooming behavior than the domestic bee to kill the mites which is indicated by the significantly higher (P<0.05) percentage of injured mites in the Russian colonies (77.1±1.2%) than that of the domestic colonies (71.3±1.9%) (mean+standard error). The mite percentage on injured legs of the Russian colonies (79.3±2.4%) was not significantly different (P<0.05) than that of the domestic colonies (82.9±1.4%). Also, the mite percentage on injured legs+body of the Russian colonies (20.6±2.2%) did not significantly differ (P<0.05) than that of the domestic colonies (17.1±1.4%). The male to female sex ratio of T. clareae in the debris of the Russian colonies (1:4.2±0.1) was not significant difference (P<0.05) than that of the domestic colonies (1:4.5±0.2).
