The study is an experiment research of the effectiveness through the education of idioms. This study presented basic data of Korean-English idiom contrastive education for Korean language learners in the English-speaking world and verified an effect of contrastive education by analyzing the basic data in an experimental way. The study was based on 182 hand selected idioms from Korean language textbooks. The study classified the level of difficulty for each idiom on a level from 1 to 5. 12 English speaking Korean learner were divided into a control and test group, then they were tested on the effectiveness of learning Korean idioms. This experiment presents two hypotheses. The first hypotheses is that the learners who received the Korean-English contrastive education had a higher achievement of learning than those who didn’t received the contrastive education. The second hypotheses is that the level of difficulty of Korean-English idioms through contrastive analysis is the same as the level of difficulty for learning. As a result of the experiment the first hypotheses was proven true because the test group scored 36% higher than control group. In the error rates by each difficulty level, the control group agreed with level of difficulty for learning. However, the test group didn’t agree with learning level of difficulty. Therefore, the second hypothesis was proven false. An effect of idiom education through contrast was proven true.
