Today characteristics and tradition of local communities are disappeared little by little under the circumstance like all the country is urbanized and industrialized. Under the circumstance like this, local governments are getting have more interest in traditional festival in order to develop and inherit traditional culture and improve quality of life. Also they are running off experience program in festival for people’s interest and conservation of tradition and modernization and this kind of experience program passes on the content of festival familiarly and entices festival participants into realizing the meaning of festival. In order to make festival experience program continue as a competitive culture product, we need to establish differences from other festivals with other programs by various types of analyzing.
The paper classified 166 traditional festivals among 763 festivals all over the country and set up the standard of classification of experience program through theoretical consideration about advanced research and various literatures in domestic. We searched experience programs which are held in traditional festival through internet research and telephone interview. This paper analyzed frequency of experience program according to standard of classification and analyzed preference and type of preference about experience program by survey and wants to provide fundamental data base for activation of experience program operation and experience planning by figuring out the characteristics and problems of experience program.
