This study discusses the various topics to convert the value of architectural aesthetics into monetary value relating from the
definition of architectural aesthetics to assuming calculation method of monetary value and analyzes the problems occurring in the case study integrating the Fuzzy theory with contingent valuation in order to provide basic data for direction of approach and determination of research method in practical study of architectural aesthetics hereafter.
Firstly, it is required to clarify the definition of architectural aesthetics for estimation of economic value of architectural aesthetics, scope and nature of value to estimate, and the viewpoints of the researchers about value estimation, and also it is necessary to understand clearly the behavioral pattern occurring at the site.
Secondly, pay amount must be set in consideration of the utility of the architecture and in case of cultural center that is used for hobby activities and recreations it must be considered that pay amount can be set rather high reflecting the opportunity cost. And in case the building has become a social issue or a sensitive political matter of concern, scenario must be composed to remind that pay intention and means are practical and real payment can be made. The composed scenario requires pilot-test prior to the main test.
Thirdly, in case economic value of architectural aesthetics of public buildings is made through Fuzzy-contingent valuation method, the age level of the samples, income level, and the respondents" interest on the subjects of value estimation are required to control prior to the test. Particularly, if pay amount is asked directly, the income level of respondents has vital influence upon the result of test. Therefore, the income level must be controlled inevitably.
