Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate major factors influencing adoption of smartphone to promote its use by older adults. Background: With the number of smartphone users increasing rapidly, interests have been increased on issues of smartphone adoption for older adults who will be a part of major customers of future. Method: Seven major factors were extracted from 36 survey questions using factor analysis. Regression analysis was also applied to determine specific factors affecting intention of use based on user vs non-user of smartphone, age, gender of user, and educational background. Results: Factors directly impacting on the intention of smartphone adoption were statistically different for users and non-users of smartphone. Moreover, factors influencing on age, gender, and educational background of smartphone users were also different. Conclusion: This study provided some implications on major factors influencing use of smartphone by older adults. Application: The results from this research may indicate some considerations for smartphone developers to promote the use of smartphone for older adults.
