King Danjong had been spoken about by many people for his victimized death, which was a historical fact that added his grudge to the spatial background Yeongwol and made a birth to a legend of Wonryeong. Wonryeong King Danjong became a holy spirit to be worshiped through the purification process called Jinhon after solving his victimized feeling like the other souls. Those who lived that era thought that it was their duty to recover his soul to a peaceful one.
The legend of Wonryeong King Danjong was weaved of the relevant historical fact as base and the emotion of the people who felt sorry for him as fiction. King Danjong was forced to get discharged to a retired king, later exiled and finally killed in his young age. He was killed in such a victimized way. That is why the legend of Wonryeong King Danjong shows its structure as same as that of the other legends of Wonryeong in which his soul appears to the one who is capable enough to solve his grudge and it will be resolved and comforted.
You will blame others if you are forced not to live the way you want. A dead one would do so. King Danjong’s Wonryeong trusts itself to another person asking her/him to solve such grudge and such grudge is solved finally after several failures in conclusion.
Soul is thought to be a personal existence that still remains after the relevant body’s death. This thought succeeds even today. Primitive religious thoughts still largely influence the people today especially in their viewpoints of soul and form their emotional base.

He is not the soul that sits in a darkness to show his grudge and curse others. like other many historical figures, King Danjong also has become a holy spirit that is worshiped by people and shaman because of his death. He has become the spirit that protects the hikers coming from everywhere to the holy Taebaek mountain.
