The purpose of this study was to investigated the relationship for the application and the usefulness of canonical correlation analysis in body composition between b-aPWV(brachial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity) and ABI(Ankle-Brachial Pressure Ind- ex) in female college students. The subjects participated in this experiment voluntary for this study were 30 healthy female college students. The body composition factor were BW(body weight), FM(fat mass), FFM(free fat mass), BMI(body mass index), WHR(waist to hip ratio),%fat(percent fat) and VFA(visceral fat area). The b-aPWV(brachial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity) and ABI(Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index) was measured by Colin Pulse Waveform Analyzer(VP-1000, Colin, Japan). For analysis, multiple and canonical correlation analysis were used by SAS(ver9.2). The body composition(WHR, %FAT) of female college students were positively correlation with only R-PWV(Right brachial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity). The body composition(WHR, %FAT) of female college students were positively correlation with only L-PWV(Left brachial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity). In the canonical correlation of between body composition and R-PWVㆍABI, R-PWV were important factor to body composition(Independent variable). Also, WHR was most important factor to R-PWV and R-ABI(Dependent variable). In the canonical correlation of between body composition and L-PWVㆍABI, L-PWV were important factor to body composition(Independent variable). Also, WHR was most important factor to L-PWV and L-ABI(Dependent variable). The results suggest that proper body composition(low WHR) may have positive effect for b_aPWV and ABI. So, we suggest that a regular exercise training might prevent of CAD(Cardiac Artery Disease) through low WHR.
