Objective: The aim of this study is the sizing of Gayageum, one of the Korea traditional musical instruments, for young players who are physically growing. Background: Gayageum has been made for adults for a long time. However this instrument has been used regardless of age with different body dimensions. Therefore, in the case of young players, they have suffered from the abnormal posture in playing. Method: The posture of professional player in National Gugak(Korean Traditional Music) Center was photographed and analyzed. Investigate the player’s trunk angle to compare with young player’s posture. Results: The size of Gayageum for young players is 0.76 compared with the size of Gayageum for adults. Conclusion: This study suggests the size of 0.76 redesigned Gayageum suitable for young players in 5 to 10-year-old. Application: This method could be applied to design other kinds of musical instrument for young players.
